Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: 2007 yamaha yzf-r1 has an acceleration lag in second gear when trying to accelerate from 5,500 rpm. acceleration from less rpm, or more the lag is not present, but it is always present in second gear at 5,500 rpm. when this lag occurs it is present for several seconds before the bike will accelerate. when it does start to accelerate, it is a slow soft acceleration regardless of throttle input. it seems to me that in this case you do not have full control over the motorcycle, which is very dangerous and life threatening to the rider and to those around (pedestrians, cars). at this time i have not noticed any other faults in the drive by wire throttle, but this problem is scary. what is to say that the throttle will stay open when you do not intend? this is an issue that needs to be addressed immediately. motorcycle was purchase new on 3/3/07 and this issue was discovered on 3/4/07 with 62 miles on the bike at first occurrence. as of 4/4/07 bike has 669 miles and this issue is still present. it will hesitate on every attempt. dealer is aware and will inspect on the bikes first service in one week. *jb |
