Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: The 2007 yamaha r1 motorcycle with fly-by-wire throttle has a definite lag of throttle. this seems to happen a lot at 5,500 rpms while in 2nd gear. when it occurs there is at least a 6-8 second lag in the throttle. it feels like the engine shut off , then it very slowly comes back to life. i feel this problem every time i ride the motorcycle and can reproduce it at will. this almost caused me to get in an accident being rear-ended. i have contacted the local dealer, who said it wasn't an issue , and also yamaha who told me that this was the way it was supposed to be. to me this seems to be a safety issue because when it happens the motorcycle will not accelerate. i a wonder if there is a glitch with the throttle-by-wire system where there isn't any throttle... can a problem occur where the throttle will go wide-open for a few seconds. this seems like a dangerous issue to me. *ak |
