Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: While riding in interstate traffic, the tall wind screen on the 2007 buell xb12x motorcycle, flew off and bounced off the front of the helmet before being run over by the traffic behind me. there was no prior warning to the shield becoming dislodged from the bike. although sudden and unexpected, i was able to maintain control of the bike and was not involved in an accident. i have notified both buell customer service and a local dealer, but replacement of shield has become problematic. *ak i have searched the database on this website and discovered there was a recall for this problem issued in august of 2006. the fix was to replace the bottom two plastic fasteners with metal bolts. i purchased the bike in january of 2007 and the new fastener kit had not been installed on my bike. at the time of purchase, no mention was made to me of this recall or the potential for the wind screen to fly off. this whole incident could have been prevented had the recall been done prior to my purchase. |
