Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: The 1999 honda accord was subject to a recall in summer 2002 for an ignition switch defect. i had the recall taken care off in october 2002. now, in 2007, the same part was defective again. the cost to me to have this fixed wasa $293. the dealership was not willing to help w/ the cost because of the time lapse. honda refused to look at it. i was told that a recall part was only repaired once a period! any additional repairs to that part were the responsibility of the consumer. my position was that if the part was defective in design, this should still be handled as a recalled item. i have no true way of knowing if the part i received in 2002 was indeed a redesigned part, or simply the same part in the vehicle at that time. i am asking specifically for all of the charges to be refuned or at the minimum some part there off 1/2 to be shared by both parties. the ignition switch should not fail under normal driving. car stalled 3 times in traffic with no warning due to this defect. *ak |
