Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: When applying the brakes when coming to a stop, the antilock brake system activates, causing the vehicle to take much longer to stop, and feel as though it may not stop. the problem became progressively worse and was a safety issue which needed to be corrected. although this problem is well documented for chevy vehicles (case #05v379000), we did not receive a recall notice. we took the vehicle to a dealer, who confirmed that the vin was not one of those recalled. i called chevy, who also confirmed that the vin was not included in the recall. because it was a safety hazard which could have resulted in an accident, we had the vehicle fixed. the dealer charged us to correct it, with the same exact solution as in the recall. the antilock brake sensors were removed, cleaned and put back in, correcting the problem. it seems as though the 2002 chevy silverado hd pickup was excluded from the recall, even though the same problem exists as in the other silverado pickups. it is even more of a safety hazard since it is a heavier truck. chevy needs to recall all of the vehicles that have this same problem, or at least cover the expenses for those who bring it in for service for the same issue as recalled in other vehicles. *tr
