Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: For some history, i own a 2006 chrysler town and country lx that is less than 21 months old, i do not have power doors. the van that has less than 20,000 miles on it made and odd noise. got out to check and saw nothing. it did it again while turning, so i stopped again to check, and as i was putting it into park the noise was continuous, it was a busted cv axle. now i know what the malfunction was, but at that point i had no clue. i was attempting to get my three year old out of the car and the sliding door would not open. i double checked that the doors were unlocked and was trying to pull the handle to get the door to release. at this point i got frantic, and when the door finally released, it flew back so hard that it caused a dent in the rear corner panel. i understand that the vehicle must be in park in order to open the back hatch. the issue i have is that the door did not release properly to the extent that had the car been on fire i could have lost my child. i have looked up some things about chrysler vehicles and people getting trapped in them and it didn't seem all that uncommon. after i had my child out i even tried turning the van on and off to get it to shift into park. i spoke with the dealer, and even the customer service people , and was told that they will adjust the door but nothing more. i did not think they were taking this seriously, even after the service manager had a hard time getting the door to release.*ak
