| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: A parent came into our check up event with an evenflo combination seat # 3221208 manufactured on 10/30/2003. she was using this as a bpb for her son ,who was 4 years old and 41 pounds. she i was unable to use the seat correctly because the plastic shoulder belt positioners broke off on both sides. the shoulder belt rode up too high in the child's neck. she has the identical seat for her daughter, who was 5 years and 45 pounds manufactured on 10/28/2003. the shoulder belt positioners were still intact on this seat, but seem ed vary flimsy, and appeared they could break off easily like the on the other seat. she too needed to use the shoulder belt positioners in order to obtain a correct fit. the parent called evenflo ,and was told the seat was too old to replace, and they could do nothing to help her. this seat was 3 1/2 years old, well under the expiration date. typically, parents were not using the shoulder belt positioners on their combination seats until after they had the seat for 2 or more years since they were using the harness system prior to that. i feel that evenflo should correct this problem on these seats and replace seats to parents who are or will be using them as a bpb so they can be used correctly. *ak |
