| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: My six month old daughter's bouncy chair was dirty and waiting to be washed, so we were substituting her bouncy seat with her car seat while we (my husband and i) stood and talked in the kitchen. i raised the handle on her carseat, listened for the click, wiggled it a little to make sure it secured, then went to lift the carseat slightly to rotate her towards me to buckle her in, and it fell forward. she did fall out, thankfully a small fall, and has one scratch under her eye due to the incident. (she was holding a sippy cup which prevented her face from hitting the floor. ) she only cried for a moment and from then on was entirely fine without any bruising or other injuries (besides the scratch) and did not need medical attention. at first i thought that it just didn't secure properly and maybe i didn't hear the click of the carseat handle, but upon hearing that her carseat model (evenflo embrace) was recalled for this reason, i checked her model number and date of production, and although the date falls after the april date (its august 14th of 2006) the fact that the very same thing happened in this model that was occuring in the slightly older model's concerned me. thank goodness my daughter didn't suffer any severe injuries but i would like to report it to prevent the injuries of other infants. we have now discontinued the use of this car seat and will be buying the next size up that goes from birth until they no longer need the seat. i cannot remember the incident date exactly, but i will be off by no more then 3 days. |
