Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: I own a new 2007 jeep grand cherokee that i had for two weeks with approximately 500 miles on it. a couple of days after purchase i called the dealer to tell them that the engine service light was on. they said no to bring vehicle to dealer as it was probably due to a loose gas cap, and would go away in a couple of days. however, this week when driving on the highway at 70 mph the jeep stalled. the fuel gauge dropped to empty from 3/4 full, and there was no acceleration on the vehicle. fortunately i was able to coast to the far shoulder of the road. i took the key out and restarted the engine, and the full guage went back up to 3/4 full and i was able to resume driving. i brought it to the dealer and they were unable to replicate the problem....they said the vehicle is fine. the reset the computer so the engine light went off. the next day after bringing it home from the dealer, the engine light came on again and i am bringing it back in next week. i have already contacted a lemon law attorney as i fully expect the problem to happen again. i saw an article that you were conducting an investigation on this problem, and wanted to add my name to the list as this stalling problem is extremely dangerous. i feel very fortunate that i did not crash after losing power at 70 mph on a crowded highway. thank you for any help you can provide.*ak |
