Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: I was driving down the highway when my 2003 cavalier began to slow down, i thought this was odd because i was still holding down the accelerator. the car seemed to be able to maintain a speed of about 60mph for about another mile when the car began to slow again then the car could not accelerate over 40mph and it eventually died completely in the middle of the highway with cars doing 70mph zooming past me. i finally made it to the shoulder of the highway and had the car towed, after performing troubleshooting, i found out it is the fuel pump that has gone out and needs to be replaced. my car only has 57,000 miles on it and at the time i still had half of a tank full of fuel, i never let the tank get below half way since i have owned the car. after doing some research i came across hundreds of other people that have the same exact year, make and model as my car that are having the same problem and it seems to happen when the car gets around 55,000 - 68,000 miles on it. this is very unsafe issue and there needs to be a recall. *tr
