Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: Engine defect - inability of jaguar maintenance to repair: the 1999 jaguar xjr which was purchased june 2002 with 21,715 miles on it for $40,000.00. vehicle was lemon from beginning. engine stalled at high speeds, showed itself twice as early as january 2003, only to continue showing itself 3 more times in 2003, 2 more times in 2004, 1 more time in 2005, and one more time in 2006,. then, again on june 13, 2007, a total of 10 times. example of serious engine stalling defect. on may 5, 2003, my wife was driving to work in the jaguar. she was on the dulles toll road traveling at about 60 mph when the engine died. the car finally came to a stop in the middle lane of the toll road. cars were ?whizzing? by at high speeds on the left and the right of our stalled vehicle. miraculously, no car hit the stopped car, and luckily, she was able to restart the engine, which could not always be restarted when these incidents occurred, and drove it directly to the jaguar dealer. continued serious problem: these numerous incidents that we encountered over the years are potential ?road fatalities? just waiting to happen, and the probability that one day we will be a ?road fatality? is increasing rapidly. i have tried a number of times to work with the jaguar dealer to solve this potential problem to no avail. spoke with jaguar executive on may 5, 2003 in attempt to replace vehicle. i again spoke with this same executive because of continued engine stalling, attempted unsuccessfully to have unsafe vehicle replaced in a fair and reasonable manner in june 2007. i believe that it is imperative that this problem be resolved before we run out of luck and a potential ?road fatality? becomes a reality and affects us all. no resolution has been obtained. *ak
