Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: The remote keyless entry system in the 2001 pontiac grand am, and other late models, have a defect causing the car not to start. the system fails in times of high heat or humidity, causing the fuel system to shut off, thus making the car inoperable. only dealers are certified to identify and repair the problem, and they do not instruct owners on how to bypass system in order to get it started. the bypass method is posted on numerous websites, yet gm and their dealers instruct owners to pay to have the vehicle towed in and charge for repairs that are not covered in the warranty. this issue should be part of a recall to implement a permanent fix, versus owners having to pay hundreds of dollars every year to have this issue fixed.*jb |
