Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: I purchased a graco safeseat step 2 for a toddler weighing between 20 and 40 pounds. before its original use, i looked the carseat over, and it was in new condition. i bought it new from target. after its very first use in the car, where it was carefully and properly installed, i took it out to change cars. it dropped 14 inches or so, and the impact foam was damaged. there was a crack above the highest shoulder harness slot from a very small impact. graco offered me a $10 off my next graco car seat purchase and i was told not to use the car seat again. if such a small drop made the carseat useless, a 35-mile-per-hour impact would completely destroy the carseat, and could potentially kill the child in the car seat. the impact foam may not meet legal safety standards. the company did very little to correct the initial problem. i returned the car seat to the store and purchased a different brand. after researching farther, i have seen that other people have reported similar problems with broken eps foam; breaking off during installation of car seat, cracked upon opening the box, and other failures. *tr
