Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Issue began just after the warranty period was over, if i tilted my steering wheel upward the horn honked repeatedly and headlamps flashed. then a week later, intermittently smell "electrical burn" and the a/c blower motor would stop, then start etc etc. i removed the covers to the steering column and the 10 ga. blue and red wires are burned along with the plug / pigtail. ignition switch, pigtail and wires were extremely hot and melting. fire is eminent. ign. switch is available but i will be forced to buy the full wiring harness! i have not done the repair due to the financial setback from a bad design. dodge had this exact condition in 2000 on 1994-1996 models, see nhtsa campaign: 00v135000. this is the same conditions, high electrical current from blower motor routed thru ignition switch instead of a relay when the blower is on high for an extended period of time. no fire yet but at this rate there will bes soon. *tr |
