Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: 2002 mitsubishi montero. the hydraulic brake accumulator failed at 65,000 miles. i heard a noise from the left side of the dash board and stopped at my local mechanic. he diagnosed the problem and told me i shouldn't drive it until it is repaired. he also said there was a recall, nhtsa id 01v254001. after calling my local mitsubishi dealer i found out that my accumulator failure doesn't qualify for the recall. the recall dates were for build dates of june 2001 and earlier, (12/1999). according to the label on my vehicle, it was built in july of 2001. i believe it is possible some of the defective accumulators were installed on vehicles produced at a later date. this is not a normal failure. *jb
