Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Complained several times about malfunctioning clutch on 2003 hyundai tiburon which we purchased new, and also paid for an additional warranty, which we were told would pick up the cost of any repairs that were not covered under the mfg. standard 100k bumper-to-bumper warranty. each time we complained we were told that it was the way we were driving the vehicle. clutch has gone out at 57k miles and now they say it is a wear item and not covered under any warranty and will cost $2000.00 to fix. we were never told of the tsb 04-40-005 indicating deformed/defective clutch parts which should be replaced when customer brings vehicle in complaining of clutch problems. car is sitting at dealership and we are waiting for a written denial of coverage from mfg. and a written estimate of cost from dealer before we proceed. however, we see that there are hundreds of complaints on this clutch system and a class action lawsuit has been filed against hyundai in orange county superior court, case #06cc00052. there should be a recall for this item/vehicle before somebody gets killed or kills somebody else because they cannot control their vehicle due to the malfunctioning of this part. *tr |
