Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: The speedometer on my 2003 chevrolet silverado 1500 began to malfunction with less than 60,000 miles on the odometer. the indicated speed would suddenly increase for no reason and would not recede with braking or with an actual decrease in speed traveled. i could not rely on the speedometer anymore and began to rely on the tachometer to estimate speed of travel. i researched this online and found an abundance of similar complaints about failing speedometers for chevy silverados. a query to a dealer indicates the remedy is a complete replacement of the instrument cluster at an estimated cost of $420.00. *tr |
