Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: On friday oct. 19, 2007, i was washing my truck prior to going to a long trip with my family. i noticed a crack on one of the spokes of wheels that was not there the previous week. since the remaining 5 looked ok, i decided to drive 10 miles to my office. upon getting there i checked the wheels and noticed there were now 2 cracks. i immediately, drove to the tire store and had them remove the tire and change the wheel. i still shudder to think what could have happened to my family if the wheel had separated at highway speeds. i call the company (american racing) who now owns the company that made the wheel ( weld) and they tell me that due to the wheel being made prior to them taking over the company, they were not responsible and not honoring any warranty claims. as far as i can tell, this is a defect and can cause catastrophic damages. i recently found another owner on the web that had a similar situation, so my case is not isolated. you can see the damage here: http://f150online.com/forums/showthread.php?t=305896 *tr |
