Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: Tl*the contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 1500. the contact received a recall notice for the service brakes wheel speed sensor. on september 19, 2007, the dealer repaired the recall; however, the abs and brake warning lights have been illuminated since the recall repair was performed. while driving between 15 and 50 mph, the vehicle made a loud noise. the dealer stated that the wheel speed sensor and wheel bearings were one unit. the dealer also stated that they cleaned one side and the other side did not need to be cleaned. the service manager confirmed that they used force to remove parts from the vehicle and stated that the vehicle was able to withstand much more damage than what occurred. during the recall repair, the dealer damaged the front ball joint and dented the rotors. the driver side ball joints were replaced; however, the failure is worse than it was prior to having the recall repair performed. the dealer was unable to provide the contact with an invoice. when the abs light is illuminated, the brakes fail to operate normally. the contact has to shut off the engine to allow the abs to reset itself. a second diagnosis by a different dealer revealed that the driver and front passenger side wheel bearings were damaged, including the passenger side that was repaired for the recall. the second dealer further stated that the noise was due to the wheel bearings failing to move freely. the manufacturer was informed by the dealer that there was no noise present. the manufacturer provided the contact with claim number 71558918083. the approximate failure mileage was 106,500 and current mileage was 108,500. updated 03/05/08. *lj the consumer stated informed dealer many times for the ticking heard in the vehicle since the vehicle at the time purchase. updated 03/04/08 *tr
