| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Event: premier pintle hitch model 690l has had known failure of 6 times in last 8 months. the failure has been the part no. 294 bolt that has broken off at the head. in 3 of the cases, the hitches were installed onto new peterbilt trucks from the factory built between 07-06, and 08-06. failure: the failure has been the head of the bolt breaking off, resulting in at least 2 incidences of the trailer coming loose from the truck while in transit. the safety cable has restrained the trailers in each case. in each of the cases, the hitch has been replaced under warranty, with the exception so far of the last 2 failures. 1 in august 07, and 1 in nov. 07. these have not yet gone through the warranty channels. in communication with premier mfg, they feel that the incidents are not their problem, but customer/driver training. we believe this does not warrant this type of failure. *tr |
