Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: As i watched the news about the firestone tire failures i couldn't help wondering if the problem isn't more widespread in the industry. a few years ago i owned a gmc pickup with uniroyal tires. the tread separated on one tire in much the same way as the firestones. it did $2600 damage to the fender. my insurance company paid for the repair and tried to collect from uniroyal. uniroyal took the tire and then said the damage was from under or overinflation. that wasn't true because i always checked pressures carefully, but it was my word against theirs. i had to replace the other three tires when they showed the first signs of tread separation. i heard stories at the body shop about other owners having similar problems, including serious accidents.( dot number: tire size: 245/75r16e ) |
