| Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: I will need to check further to determine the actual date of the accident. the tire in question suffered tread separation while i was stationed in switzerland with the u.s. foreign service and driving on the autobahn in germany. the tires were original equipment on the car, which was purchased in the u.s. i drove the car from 1993-1994 in guyana, a tropical country in south america. when i heard about the firestone tire recall due to tread separation, especially after being driven in hot climates, i decided to report my 1995 accident. the blowout caused me to lose control of the car, which veered off the highway and slid into a milepost on the driver's side. the car nearly flipped -- when it struck the milepost it leaned over on two wheels before settling back on four. i have always felt that the tire was defective -- there was no proximate cause for the tread separation -- and i would like to know whether there is any possible connection to the firestone tire problems. i would also appreciate your advising me whether i should contact the manufacturer and demand compensation of any kind. thank you.
