Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: Transmission was rebuilt using 'all new parts'. i brought it back to the mechanic several times due to hard shift up at 20-30 mph. he took it apart every time and said there was no problem that he could see, even though he agreed about the hard shift. i paid $1,400 out of pocket because it failed 3 months after the warranty expired (and when the balloon payment was due at the end of the gold key lease.) it recently began making a high pitched drill type noise upon accelerating at any speed, along with both hard shifting upon acceleration and deceleration. the noise continued for about 3 weeks, and stopped 4 days before the transmission totally failed. it failed at 65mph, in cruise control in heavy traffic, only 18 months after it had been repaired. the vehicle began bucking like a horse, with the transmission shifting very hard down and up several times. i disengaged the cruise control and it lost power steadily until it would not drive any more. the engine sounded like i was flooring it in park even though it was in drive. i switched from drive to reverse and back 3 times before a gear would engage. it would operate in reverse. i was able to resume enough power to get us home.
