Was Vehicle Towed: - Description of the Complaints: On this vehicle the engine balance shaft oil seal dislodges, potently causing an underhood fire or the engine to seize. on a manual transmission vehicle this could results in a loss of control while driving. this failure is catastrophic, without any warning, resulting in a complete loss of engine oil into the environment. complete oil loss occurs in approximately about 3 minutes. again, the possible safety problems are engine fire and seizure. minor complications are the requirement of new or remanufactured engine. this problem is also documented in a service bulletin: service bulletin number: 961001b / bulletin sequence no.: 46 / nhtsa item no.: sb049981
