Was Vehicle Towed: - | Description of the Complaints: Right side of exhaust manifold leaking. two studs broken off. checked right side and found one broken stud, not leaking yet. i talked with two dealers, a parts distributor, and a owner of a 1989 pathfinder (same engine) and they all confirmed that this was a typical problem with this engine. i had the exhauset gaskets and studs replaced on both sides. ($ 856.75) this vehicle has been very well maintained and there is no reason why the exhaust studs should be failing at only 70,000+ miles. the service writer informed me that they replaced the studs with "new & improved" studs. this would indicate to me that the original design was faulty. neither dealer contacted mentioned any factory assistance available. there is a service bulletin out on this item ((fc0009202) |
