Defect Summary : Vehicle description: sport utility vehicles. the safety belt lower outboard anchorage bolt on the driver's and front passenger's seats may not have been secured properly. Consequence Summary: In the event of a crash, the safety belt system might not be able to provide its maximum restraint function.
Corrective Summary : Dealers will inspect the bolts and correct the torque if necessary. Recall Notes: Owner notification began september 27,2000.owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact bmw at 1-800-831-1117. also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).
