Defect Summary : Equipment description: motorcycle fork assemblies manufactured from march 1, 1999, to may 23, 2000. the slider tube can loosen from the axle clamp or piston while the motorcycle is being operated. |
Consequence Summary: If the slider tube loosens while the motorcycle is being operated, the driver can lose steering control without prior warning possibly causing injury to the rider. |
Corrective Summary : American suspension will inspect the fork assemblies to determine proper preload levels and torque requirements. calibrated torque wrenches with audible click indicators will be used to achieve proper torque. |
